As a lifelong U.P. resident, my roots in our community run deep. That’s why I am frustrated and disappointed with how out of touch Lansing is, especially when it comes to the struggles that many of our friends, families and neighbors are facing. 

I’ve seen firsthand that Lansing is broken, and I am more determined than ever to fix state government so it works best for us folks in the U.P. Our lawmakers must spend more time creating and protecting jobs and supporting our small businesses, and less time on political bickering. We have to change state government to make sure that our hard-earned tax dollars are being used wisely on the priorities that matter.

Because I ran a business out of my home for more than three decades, I understand the challenges that small business owners and workers across Michigan are facing every day. To get our workers back on the job and back on their feet, we must make Michigan the best place in the world for businesses to set up shop. I am committed to making this happen.

There’s no doubt that the U.P. is special. As an outdoor enthusiast, I know that we have the best woods and lakes around. So many hard-working U.P. residents depend on our fishing, boating and tourism industries for their livelihoods, and that’s why I am dedicated to protecting our natural resources.

We face many challenges during these tough times. Working together, though, we can begin to rebuild our great state and make the U.P. a better place for all of us.
